A little bit about me

Hi I’m Pamela or Pam as most folk call me. Why did I want to become a counsellor…. Well it wasn’t part of my plan. I didn’t have a plan. I bumbled through life from being a teenage mum, being in foster care, going down every wrong route you can think of till I eventually wanted to find my purpose in life. That probably sounds a bit wishy washy but its the truth. I was in my thirties before I started exploring what I wanted to do and that led me to working with children who were in care. I found I had a passion for listening and wanting to support young people who had experienced complex trauma. From there I’ve worked with children and families which was challenging and rewarding in equal measures. It wasn’t till I was having a panic attack during a really stressful time in my life that I went for counselling and from there I didn’t look back. I had unresolved trauma from my childhood and I was carrying around a lot of shame and guilt from some of my choices in life. I had the experience of working with a lovely person centred counsellor who helped me work through my issues and I was able to free myself from the ghosts of my past that were haunting me in the present. Three years later I embarked on a diploma at university in Counselling and Psychotherapy which meant I could offer the same help and support that allowed me to change my life.
